***We currently do not offer professional grooming services. We are however able to give baths by appointment only and would require you to drop your pet off for the day. Please call our clinic for additional details or to schedule an appointment.
We are able to offer grooming services for both dogs and cats at our clinic. Grooming can have many additional health benefits to your pet beside the usual ‘beauty parlor’ look and smell!
Vaccinations are required for the grooming process. We require rabies, distemper, and bordetella for the safety of our groomer and the other animals at the Animal Medical Center. If your dog is overdue, we can give the vaccinations the same day as the groom. No extra trip necessary!
A matted pet can quickly become a target for flies in the summer months. Remember also that an ‘unkept’ animal may be a sign that the animal is not well and should be examined by one of our veterinarians.
There is a common misconception that shaving a double coated dog (ie a border collie, husky, lab, golden retreiver) will reduce shedding. This is absolutely not true. Shaving a double coated dog has about a 75% chance of ruining the dogs coat and the dog does not shed any less, the hairs shed are just shorter. Also, by shaving your pet, you are predisposing it to sun burn, now that the skin is exposed. A good brush out of all the dead undercoat is all that is needed to keep your dog cool and healthy!
