Neutering

Neutering refers to the surgical procedure performed on male dogs and cats to render them infertile. There are many benefits to neutering your male companion. First, you will contribute to the prevention of the dog and cat overpopulation. Second, neutering will eliminate undesirable and embarrassing behavior. Third, you will help prevent diseases in your pet such as prostate disease and testicular cancer.

Neutering involves surgical removal of both testicles.

The procedure is performed under Isoflurane anesthesia gas. We use several monitoring devices such as EKG and respiratory monitor during your pet’s anesthetic procedure. Our monitoring devices allow us to respond to an anesthetic emergency faster and faster response can save lives. We also have certified veterinary technicians that continually assess your pet’s vital signs. Neutering involves a day stay in our hospital. Anesthetic blood work and IV fluids are recommended. Appropriate medications to control post op pain are used and offer take home pain meds.
